Release time:
Feb 07,2025
Introduction According to StrategiesUnlimited statistics, the development of LED indoor lighting is expected to show exponential growth in the next five years. This presents both opportunities and challenges for LED indoor lighting. Therefore, it is essential to enhance LED technology based on the trends in indoor lighting development. Currently, there are mainly two types of indoor lighting: (1) According to the method of illumination, it can be divided into direct lighting, indirect lighting, reflected lighting, transmitted lighting, diffuse lighting, and background lighting; (2) According to the type of lighting, it can be divided into general lighting, accent lighting, auxiliary lighting, layered lighting, three-dimensional lighting, and decorative lighting.
Introduction
According to StrategiesUnlimited statistics, the development of LED indoor lighting is expected to show exponential growth in the next five years. This presents both opportunities and challenges for LED indoor lighting. Therefore, it is essential to enhance LED technology based on the trends in indoor lighting development.
Currently, there are mainly two types of indoor lighting:
(1) According to the method of illumination, it can be divided into direct lighting, indirect lighting, reflective lighting, transmitted lighting, diffuse lighting, and background lighting;
(2) According to the type of illumination, it can be divided into general lighting, accent lighting, auxiliary lighting, layered lighting, three-dimensional lighting, and decorative lighting. Generally speaking, in office spaces, general lighting (basic lighting, ambient lighting) is predominant, while in homes, shopping malls, bars, and other places, multiple types of lighting are often combined. At the same time, one type of lighting can include multiple methods of illumination.
It is evident that the quality of indoor lighting design directly affects people's daily lives and work. With the efforts of the industry, indoor lighting is developing towards a healthier and more orderly direction. The following article will focus on several mainstream development trends in indoor lighting.
1. Trends in Indoor Lighting Development
With the tension in oil supply and the urgency of coal, after more than a decade of rapid economic development, the issue of energy scarcity has become a bottleneck restricting economic development. Energy conservation and emission reduction have become one of the most concerning global issues, and indoor lighting is no exception. As early as the 1990s, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency launched the Energy Star labeling system, allowing products that meet energy-saving standards to bear a green five-pointed star label and be included in the EPA's product catalog for promotion to reduce energy consumption. China has also included "Research on Energy Conservation and Emission Reduction Issues" in the major research topics of the 12th Five-Year Plan.
It is clear that energy-saving development is a trend in the development of indoor lighting fixtures. In addition to energy saving, functional diversification is also one of the main development directions of indoor lighting. This is mainly reflected in:
(1) High color rendering: Color rendering is the degree to which a light source presents the colors of objects. Fixtures with a high color rendering index generally reach above 90, making them suitable for use in kitchens, product counters, and hospital operating tables;
(2) Intelligence: Choosing efficient light sources does not necessarily mean that energy-saving fixtures will be produced. Currently, the development towards intelligence is mainly reflected in adjustable gray levels and colors through circuit design and light control, aiming to reduce glare and further save energy while providing a humanized design for lighting;
(3) Flexibility: Through flexible design, the shape of fixtures can be changed at will, greatly enhancing their artistic sense and providing a refreshing feeling.
In addition to the above points, with the increasing environmental awareness of people and the rising demands for indoor spaces, environmental protection and lightweight design have also become mainstream trends in indoor lighting development.
The following article will briefly discuss several key areas that need improvement in LED chips, packaging, and fixtures in conjunction with the aforementioned trends in indoor lighting development.
